The function Select all is used when there is a wide range of selectable items and all of them have to be selected. By selecting them with this function, the user doesn't have to put a tick in front of each item.
It can be used as well when there are some exeptional points in a list which have not to be selected. In this case first select all and chose click afterwards on the wanted items to deselect them.
