Das Fenster Optionen enthält vier verschiedene Seiten, wo die globalen Einstellungen für TCMStudio festgelegt werden können:

Deutschland
- Bundesland
- Auswahl des Bundeslandes
Location Code (LCD):
- Letzter Wert zugewiesen
- Location Code des zuletzt erstellten Objekts
- Höchster Wert zugewiesen
- Der höchste Wert eines zugewiesenen Location Codes
- Bereich von / Bereich bis
- Wenn ein gewünschter Bereich für den LCD verlangt wird, kann hier der tiefste und der höchste zulässige Wert eingegeben werden.
- LCD wiederverwenden
- Hier können die Einstellungen zur Wiederverwendung von LCD verändert werden:
- Grundsätzlich wird neu erstellten Objekten eine höhere LCD zugewiesen als zuvor erstellten Objekten (Grundeinstellung). Wenn bestehende Objekte gelöscht werden, wird die ungebrauchte LCD also nicht wiederverwendet.
- Durch die Option 'Verwende alle freien LCD' werden die durch Löschen entstandenen Leerstellen wieder geschlossen und leere LCDs, die sich im definierten Bereich befinden, für neue Objekte wiederverwendet.
Die Einstellung 'LCD wiederverwenden' wird nicht empfohlen.
Verschiedenes:
- Im Fenster Interneteinstellungen können allfällige durch Proxys oder Firewalls verursachte Unterbrüche der Internetverbindung behoben werden.
- Fehlermeldung senden
- Hier kann das Standardvorgehen im Falle von Fehlern und Fehlermeldungen festgelegt werden.
- Suchradius
- Der Suchradius bestimmt den während einer Suche berücksichtigten Radius von Objekten zum gegenwärtigen Standort.
- Grössenfaktor für Punkt
- Format für die Darstellung von Koordinaten
- Here you can choose if the coordinates displayed in the bottom right hand corner of the screen should be displayed in decimal degrees or in minutes and seconds.
- Verwende Zusatzwerte
- Ticking this box gives you additional information in the point-window beneath the data tree. This information is for instance required when generating a one way street.
- Ausgewählte Achse
- Opens a window that lets you customize the way the selected line will be displayed.
- Ausgewählte Strasse
- Opens a window that lets you customize the way the selected road will be displayed.
- Ausgewählter Punkt
- Opens a window that lets you customize the way the selected point will be displayed.
Shapefiles
Shapefile für Gebiet
- Shapefile
- Click on the field to the right of 'Shape File' and the on the folder icon to locate the directory where the shape file is stored.
- LCD Feld
- The field in which the LCD is located. Mandatory
- Namensfeld
- The field in which the name is located. Optional
- Typenfeld
- The field in which the type is located. Mandatory

- Aktivieren
- When using Link Editor this option should be enabled in order to activate the corresponding buttons and functions.
Straßennetz Datenbank
If you imported the network from a shapefile (see Import Network Database From Shapefile), all settings should already be in place. If not, click Connection Settings to open the corresponding window and enter the connection details according to the following instructions:

- Select Firebird (lokal) only!
- Datenbank
- Click on the folder button
to select the database (file format ist FDB).

Opens the window Edit Layer Configuration File where you can configure the map display of the network layer.

- Click on the folder button to define where the cache file should be stored.

- Define color and pattern of TMC links on the map

Erstelle Punkt, Kopiere Punkt, Lösche Punkt
- Ergänze vorhandene Links mit neuen, zusätzlichen Links
- You can set the program to do so automatically: Complete Links
Since the program needs one or two seconds to complete the links this might however be an inconvenience.
In this case you can tell the program not to do so: Do not complete links
If you choose this option, you must however update the links (Link Editor → Update TMC links) once yo are done editing.
If you are only doing minor changes you can also set the program to Ask each time. This can however become irritating verry quickly.
Routing
Define a cost factor for the various road types. It depends on the structure of your network what makes most sense and gives the best results. As soon as you use the routing function you will see if the results make sense.
